La Leche League is a great resource for the entire community. The LLL philosophies help mothers, father, grandparents, and caretakers learn a gentle approach to parenting. LLL meetings are open to anyone with a healthy interest in breastfeeding. So what does this mean? This means that you don’t have to be lactating to come to an LLL meeting! I didn’t know that! I almost stopped going when my son weaned because I thought that it was just a group for mother’s actively breastfeeding. But it makes sense that it would be open to so many. Perhaps you have weaned your baby, but you are still a valuable resource to others in the community. Maybe you’re pregnant and want to learn more about what breastfeeding is really like. How about you’re a mother who tried to breastfeed but ended up in a formula-feeding relationship and want to know how to help your next baby nurse. There is even room for fathers and grandparents who want to learn how to support someone who is nursing.
If you’re in the Goldsboro area and want to see what LLL is all about, come out to Goldsboro Pediatrics (across from Wayne County Memorial) on the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM.
