Since becoming a mother, I have started trying to be more conscious about the impact that I have on my world. It’s easy to just throw stuff away when you don’t have to see it piling up… but let’s face it, everything we throw away just goes from a mess in our house to a mess on our planet.
There are many very good reasons to use cloth diapers, even if you can’t commit to them full time. Every cloth diaper you put on your baby is one less disposable on his/her bottom. That means one less exposure to toxic chemicals and one less diaper sitting in a landfill for half a century. Please visit
Real Diaper Association for more information on the benefits of cloth diapering. You can also download pamphlets from the website to help spread awareness about the benefits of real diapers.
I know that it seems overwhelming, but that’s just because we have been taught to believe that we need the “conveniences” that are sold to us in packages at the store. The practice of cloth diapering has become removed from the mainstream and at first, it does seem foreign. It doesn’t take long before it starts to feel more natural. I have used disposable diapers for about half of my diapering career, and I can honestly say that I don’t miss it.
Here is a little bit of information to help get started. If you came to this website after attending Parenting Your Newborn, this will be a refresher.
If you have any questions or just want to have a diaper chat, please email me. I love to talk diapers… so be prepared, lol.
